Today marks the anniversaries of the birth of two football GODS!!!
Joseph Clifford Montana turns 51 today. Always in the discussion of "Greatest Quarterback of All Time" though statistically he's not incredible. There have been many with more touchdown passes, yards, QB rating, even wins. However, there is one thing that always gets brought up...and fittingly. FOUR SUPER BOWLS...THREE MVP'S!!! Who else can say that? Terry Bradshaw? Tom Brady may be well on his way...and there's another thing that they share in common. Just look at that charasmatic smile. No wonder he's earned nicknames like "The Golden Boy" & "Joe Cool." Happy Birthday buddy!!! P.S. Your wife is really hot.
Vincent Thomas Lombardi would be turning 94 today if he had not fallen victim to intestinal cancer back in 1970. He was an architect of what football is today in many ways & to read the man's words of inspiration is like listening to that voice within...telling you to be what you want to be & never give up, never surrender (sorry, that was Galaxyquest...but still). "It's not the size of the Dog in the Fight, but the size of the Fight in the Dog." A graduate of West Point Academy, he always knew how to rile up the troops & go to war...at least playing football. He was the winning head coach of the first two Super Bowls...and now even the trophy itself is named after his legacy.
What do these men prove? Whether you're the will (Lombardi) or the way (Montana), you can achieve anything you set you mind to. Always remember - If you're going to do it, do it with a smile!!! :)
